A Look Inside Village Alchemy

The Alchemists

Kelly

Owner, Herbalist

I was born and raised in Keene, New Hampshire. I met my husband of 28 years when we shipped out  together for USAF boot camp. We are the proud parents of three amazing children and we have been fortunate enough to live in, and travel to many beautiful places, to include: Japan, Hawaii, Ireland, England, Scotland, and all over the US.

I earned my Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Keene State College and continue to expand my knowledge as I study to become a certified Business Herbalist through the Herbal Academy.

I find joy in life’s simple and meaningful moments—reading, gardening, creating, and, most importantly, spending time with my family. I am passionate about homesteading and slow living, embracing a lifestyle that prioritizes connection, sustainability, and intention.

Village Alchemy was born from a small dream and brought to life through the support and collaboration of my multi-talented husband and creative children. It reflects my belief in the power of family, creativity, and living in harmony with nature.

I recently earned my Master’s in graphic design during a year abroad in Nottingham, England. I handle everything from brand design and product packaging to website visuals and social media. Outside of digital design and illustration, I love exploring hands-on creativity like crocheting, painting, or occasionally turning new hobbies into handmade products for the store. I am inspired by cozy, dark academic, cottagecore, and whimsical aesthetics, (and of course, Taylor Swift). I aim to create what feels personal, comforting, and a little magical.

I am always open to custom orders upon request. If you are interested in contacting me, or want to see more of my work, click below!

Graphic Designer, Illustrator

At Village Alchemy, we believe in creating a space that feels warm, creative, and inviting. It’s a place where handmade goods, thoughtful finds, and everyday self-care come together to make life feel a little more special.

About half of our inventory is handmade, which is both the most rewarding and most challenging part of what we do. While it can make keeping items in stock a little tricky, it’s also where we have the most fun. It gives us the chance to spend time together doing what we love, often combining our individual talents to create pieces that feel even more unique.

This can include: candles, lotions, tinctures, accessories, paintings, toys, home decor, teas, stationary, and more.

Our handmade items are often created in small batches, allowing us to change things up with the seasons. Many of our bestsellers can be restocked depending on material availability, and we’re always happy to offer custom orders when possible. Customers can request specific colors or sizes based on the product, and if you can’t reach us in person, we’re always just a message away through social media or our website contact page.

A Message From the Owner

We are located in the small village of Westmoreland in Southern New Hampshire. Since retiring from the US Air Force and buying our house here in 2014, we have been thinking of opening a small shop out of the studio in our barn. With my husband’s and son’s talent in construction and my my daughter’s talents in design, we were able to bring our small business idea to life.

With this store, we hope to bring a unique and local option for buying gifts, self-care items, and other treasures that embody cottage-core, nature, magic, and the idea of creating a romanticized lifestyle.

My oldest daughter Rhiannon has a Master’s in Graphic Design and has helped me create an identity for the store. She makes paintings, crocheted items, stickers, cards, and many other handmade products that are sold in the store. A lot of the time, we will also combine our talents and make things together. My husband Joshua has turned all my interior design ideas into a reality and has built the actual storefront by hand.

The response and support we have received since opening our doors in April of 2024 has been amazing. We have learned so much, met so many wonderful people, and participated in a number of events that not only helped spread the word out about our small business, but also created meaningful family memories. We’re so grateful for our customers and can’t wait to keep creating for you.

Thank you for shopping at Village Alchemy. ♡
